  • The Barras has so much potential and I do see it slowly being reborn! The actual market itself had very few stalls and most were selling cheap toys (bouncy balls, inflatables etc), counterfeit DVDs and viagra. It was a lot different from the treasure trove I remember when I was younger. However, you have to go dig a little deeper and ask the locals to find the good spots! We asked a local vendor who directed us towards Barras Art and Design. They had a nice cafe and few quirky shops inside the precinct. They have different events in the courtyard and this week, it was a vinyl sale, which was cool to discover some local bands. From there, somebody suggested that we visit Randall's antiques. They had some fun, quirky finds and had done some interesting things with some of their old artefacts. It was fun just to explore and see what quirky and strange objects lay round the next corner.
  • Very down to earth place its a shame how lits been left run down over the years its fun fill place Glasgow people life 💚💙
  • loved this place growing up, but, so sad to see it rundown, lots of market stalls closed now, council trying to make it an upmarket trendy place and it's losing it's Glasgow atmosphere
  • Faded I'm terms of numbering stalls and range of stuff. A few brave souls are trying to turn it more vintage than junk but not as many bargain finds as in the past.
  • Kind of sad. Lots of junk. Not worth the trip.

Where to stay in Glasgow

Glasgow's revitalized city center offers outstanding accommodations--along with some of the finest shopping outside London. Considered one of the finest Victorian cities in Britain, Glasgow is renowned for its centrally located hotels. Spacious rooms overlook the historical city center, and award-winning restaurants and trendy cafes occupy the lower levels. Farther away from the central areas, which are often noisy and crowded with tourists, is a world of small B&Bs and guesthouses. These considerably cheaper options offer quality lodging in quiet neighborhoods less frequented by weekend revelers and rowdy nightlife lovers.
