  • Well, it's ice skating, ummmmm, that's it really. Hire skates were in good condition as was the rink. Not too busy. You can take a Penguin onto the ice to act as a support if you're little or a Polar ...  more »

  • Do not take your kids! Not only will you ruin what should be a fun experience but you will also put them in danger! What a colossal waste of money. Not only was the staff unhelpful but the conditions for skating were dangerous and completely unacceptable. The rink was far too wet and the skates I was given were extremely dull (I have more dangerous butter knives). I am a confident skater (was raised across the street from a rink in Canada) and I could NOT skate in the first skates I was given. They clearly do not take care of their equipment or have any care for the people using them. I asked for a sharper pair of skates and the second pair were marginally better but still what I would consider unsafe. I paid £25 for my four year old and I to skate and I left after half an hour absolutely furious with the whole experience.
  • Overpriced for what it is, over 40 quid for one adult and 3 kids. Youngest child is five and did not last long on the ice, so felt quite ripped off. You get charged a pound if you pay by card, though in this day and age god knows why? I had hoped to use my ice card which gives a few quid off, but apparently Silver Blades had changed to Planet Ice over the last two weeks and cards were no longer valid. To get another card it would not be free as before, but six pounds. Will not be returning.
  • It is fun. But seems that everything is very outdated. The cafe area could do with renewal. They serve now Papa Jones pizzas which is good but takes a while. Once I saw girl fall and there were no marshals on the ice. We had to take girl to the reception. It took avout 10min as she has hurt herself badly and no one came over in that time
  • Shabby, smelly and most of vending machines out of order. PA systems is rubbish, sounds like Peter Kay sketch of mumbling and only understanding the odd word here and there. Bar upstairs fine and staff friendly.
  • Decent place for skating and a spot of lunch - as they have a Papa John's pizza place there. There are handy skating aids for young skaters and the marshalls (if that's what they're called) in the rink do a good job. The bad point though - which is the reason for the 3 stars - is that the toilets are the most disgusting that i've seen anywhere in years. Even the disabled loo was in an appalling state (which my son had to use as there was no loo paper in the usual toilets). Most of them also had broken flushes. Absolutely appalling and has put me off returning. Other (minor) issues - broken change machine, cash machine had an error on the screen and the window at the side of the entrance had been smashed and was simply taped up. This place needs some serious TLC! Shame really as the skating was good enough.
