  • Visited in July 2016. Very atmospheric part ruined castle built and owned by the McCullochs, a delightfully nasty bunch of individuals which adds to the experience. Bit of a steep climb, but worth the effort for the views. As an EH member I got in free which was a pleasant surprise. The lady running the centre was also very friendly and offered suggestions for other places to visit nearby.
  • Cardoness was once owned by McCullohs, who were my ancestors. I have seen many pictures of this place before and have read stories about some people living in it. So it was really special to visit McCulloh Castle on May 17, 2016. Happy for the cut-away sketches which helps us to visualize what the castle was probably like in its heyday.
  • Lovely views and lovely area. I passed this for years on the way into Gatehouse of Fleet and never went in but I visited with family and loved it!
  • Amazing great view when you get to the top only thing is that you have to be careful about is that if you have dogs with you watch your step when you go up and down the stone steps and the windows. Other than that great place to go would love to go back again.
