The collections displayed at West Highland Museum narrate the rich history of the Scottish Highlands and its people. Spread over three floors, the museum's seven galleries trace the story of this mountainous region in the western part of the country, with special focus on the influence and significance of the Jacobite political movement. Don't miss the collection's highlight, an 18th-century portrait of Bonnie Prince Charlie, known as the instigator of the unsuccessful Jacobite uprising of 1745. Other notable features include regalia Queen Victoria gifted to John Brown, her trusted personal aide, as well as several displays dedicated to Highlands archaeology, wildlife, and military history. • Nice little museum, had some interesting exhibits on the local area. Staff were very friendly on arrival, very attentive to other visitors there too. Not very big but with a little visit.
  • We randomly found this museum while in Fort William. It was one of the best little museums we have seen yet. It's a bit random in what it contains but the history and items you can see is incredible. Worth stopping in. It's free, but definitely worth donating after walking through the museum!
  • great museum with lots of information and a great collection of historical artefacts. if youre in the area its well worth an hour or so at least. especially good if youre planning to go to Glenfinnan and would like some historical background to the site there
  • Staff were very welcoming. The museum provided lots of information on the local area. I found it informative and it broadened my knowledge, particularly the role the area played during the second world war.
  • Quaint little establishment. Really friendly and helpful staff.
