Jacobite Steam Train, Fort William

4.0
Travel on the same train Harry Potter boarded for Hogwarts on Jacobite Steam Train. The train runs 25.5 km (41 mi), passing through gorgeous landscapes alongside Loch Eil, Glenfinnan Viaduct, and Arisaig. The route was opened exclusively for visitors wishing to view the scenery in the region. Prior to the train, the area was almost inaccessible to tourists. Pulled by a steam locomotive, the train whistles through the Scottish countryside daily, with trains departing from Mallaig and Fort Williams. • One of the Best day trip if you visiting fort William don't miss the train journey. We loved it and made unforgettable memories
  • Great train ride to Mallaig and back again. Highly recommend and also book your tickets as the train is always booked out. First class tickets are booked out 8 months or more from travel date.
  • What a fun experience! We took the train one way from Mallaig to Fort William. The sounds of the engine, the smell of the steam, the breathtaking scenery... It was amazing. The company has capitalized on the Harry Potter connection, but it is sweet and not overwhelming. The conductor let's you know when picture worthy moments are approaching. The whole family was enchanted.
  • I enjoyed the first class journey on this, however I think it's a bit too long and Malaiq is quite boring. If someone asked, I would rather advise taking the car onto the famous bridge and clicking some v beautiful pictures
  • It is popular due to its featuring in Harry potter movies but honestly, it wouldn't give you any such experience. You would feel excited for 5 minute when train passes through that very viaduct featured in the movie. You would view nice scenery during the journey. Bottom line is that, it's an overrated stream train, if you want to have an experience of riding in the steam train, it is ok, but if you are coming to experience of a Harry potter coach, you would be disappointed.
