  • Situated in a very small town. Came to know about Jacobites and others after visiting. Visit was ok ok... Recommendable for ancient place lovers.....
  • Visited Fort Augustus while we were staying in Invergarry. What a lovely place situated at the bottom of Loch Ness, and a walk along the Caledonian Canal is a must, I would recommend this place to any...  more »
  • It's worth the stop in this town built in the past as an outpost of Government of Hanover to try to calm the insubordinate Highlander. Today there is no trace of that turbulence so it is pleasant to shoot on the streets of Fort August looking for photography lovers special views like the ones that offer closed systems of the Caledonian Canal. It is interesting to stand on the sides of the channel to watch the passage of various boats including boat which then arrives at the castle of Urquhart.

  • Amazing hosts and what an amazing location. Breakfast superb, room clean, warm and super comfortable. My bicycle was also catered for which was a brilliant touch. Thank you Phil and Clare.
  • Thanks to Phil and Clare for a wonderfull stay at The Holt. You gave a very warm and personal welcom. Having breakfast in so nice surroundings was pure meditation... :-) So nice! We can only recommend this beautifull site.
  • Had the best experience of staying in a B&B ever. Thanks to Phil and Clare who made us feel very welcome. The conservatory where we sat and had breakfast overlooks the river where you could watch all sorts of wildlife. The breakfast was plentiful and sorted us for the rest of the day. The room with ensuite was beautifully decorated and comforatable with all mod cons. Lots of information at hand regarding the local area and is ideally situated at the side of the locks. Would recommend this B&B as a first choice to anyone wanting to stay in Fort Augustus Scotland.
  • Great B & B within walking distance of Loch Ness. Phil and Claire attended us wonderful and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Is super easy to get and there are also several pubs for lunch and/or dinner about what you do not need to take the car.
