Brands Hatch, Fawkham
Categories: Tourist Spots, Auto Race Tracks
There has been a race track at Brands since 1926, when the land was first used for grass track bike racing. In those days, competitors ran anti-clockwise, but the direction of the circuit was switched in 1954.See Brands Hatch and all Fawkham has to offer by arranging your trip with our Fawkham family vacation planner.
The heritage of Brands is vast – name any famous driver from the last 50 years or so and they are bound to have cut their teeth racing there. Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Barry Sheene, Jack Brabham, Derek Minter, Emerson Fittipaldi, Ayrton Senna and current F1 star Jenson Button are among the countless drivers to have raced and won at Brands over the years.
In 1983, MotorSport Vision Chief-Executive Jonathan Palmer made his Formula One debut at the Kent circuit with a Williams FW08C. Two years later, Nigel Mansell scored his first Grand Prix victory there, also winning the final F1 race at Brands in 1986.
Since then, the cream of world motor racing has appeared at Brands Hatch, and the World Superbike Championship became an annual pilgrimage for bike fans all over the globe. Brands Hatch even became a London 2012 venue, hosting the Paralympic Road Cycling events.
The circuit’s unique combination of dips, cambers, fearsome corners and hills means it is still one of the world's favourite racing circuits, and with great racing and constant development from MSV continues to go from strength to strength.

Great fun. Free parking and access to the cars for inspection. Plus you can find plenty of places to sit and watch the racing.
It's the closest racing circuit to London, and the continuing upgrades are making it better and better. The track hasn't changed in years, but the facilities are finally up-to-spec. The circuit itself is quite short, so if you want a track day then try Rockingham, Donington, or maybe Snetterton. If you want heart in the mouth excitement, then you'll certainly get that here. Paddock Hill bend is quite daunting, to make sure you've taken your "Bravery Pills" before venturing out!
Great circuit, it is very spectator friendly and everywhere is easily accessible. Have been visiting for many years now, they have a lot of events. Food is consistently good from all outlets, be it the Kentagon, Hailwoods Restaurant or Fast Lane, or any of the others. Good and free access to the paddock and pit lane, friendly staff and parking is aplenty, on the main fields, or South Bank. I would recommend this circuit to any racing enthusiast or even people with just a slight interest as it is very easy to get around. Only niggle is that ticket prices seem a bit inconsistent depending on the event, but that is probably on the organiser's terms not the circuit's. Well done MotorSportVision.
Great track. Short enough so you can learn and improve yet with a varied layout so it's fun. Friendly and helpful staff too.
Love this place. Tickets are reasonable, food in the Kentagon and Hailwoods is both plentiful and reasonable and the racing is second to none.
Fantastic track and great fun!! I have done several track days here and keep going back because it is awesome. Looking forward to many more.
