I found the part of Exeter to be very peaceful. However there was no real information about the ruin. So I was not sure what I was looking out. No entrance fee, so difficult to complain. more »
St Catherine's Chapel is a Grade II Listed Building in the centre of Exeter. The Chapel was built alongside the former Almshouses and is the most striking part of the ruins. Originally a two-storey building it is still standing to its full height, though of very small dimensions (about 6m by 3m) and now with no roof or windows. The Chapel eventually fell out of use and was later used as a carpenter's shop. The whole structure was destroyed by fire 4 May 1942 and the ruins remain as a War Memorial.
