  • Grew up in Exeter but never visited the tunnels. Decided to do it on a very hot day with the kids, (16/11) Interesting view of the city, history and great tour guides.  more »
  • Arrived coming up to 10.20am and were advised the next tour was 11.30am. We booked and were advised to come back 10 mins early so we could visit the heritage centre before our tour. The person who too...  more »

  • Very interesting! Was great to learn more about the history of the city! And great value at only £6 per adult! Guide was a very much keeping to the script, but was amusing and informative all the same. The tunnels themselves are narrow and for the most part you can stand upright in them. There are however large sections where you have to stoop over to get through. Very interesting, would definitely recommend if you're interested, well worth the money.
  • Well worth a visit. Another aspect of the Estory of Exeter. Very informative.
  • PROS: - interesting 30min spent underground, - very informative and engaged guide, - price/value okay, - we got a spot even without a prior reservation, - there's an interesting exhibition just before the entrance of the tour, where you can get more information on the subject. CONS: - don't go if you are claustrophobic/have back problems/are very tall: might be unpleasant, - prepare to get a bit dirty (not exactly a con, just a part of the process), - groups could be smaller, - hardhats could use a wash, they stink :/.
  • A genuinely enjoyable and fascinating 30-minute tour of Exeter's historic underground passageways. The passages have a varied history that stretches for hundreds of years and their differing functions is reflected in their architecture. I think it is a tiny bit overpriced but not too much - there is also an interesting little exhibition to look over before/after the tour. Wear sensible clothing - the passageways can be a little damp.
  • Short tour that touches on how they brought water into the city and about the tunnels when they were used during WWII and a very small museum. It was interesting enough but a bit expensive for the value.
