  • I visited the area to go to the Heavy Horse Festival at Hay Farm. It was a great event with lots to see but did not take up a whole day. From the farm we went to the Old Dairy Coffee andChampagne Bar....  more »

  • There is not much of the castle left but there is plenty to see and the display boards are very well presented. Inside the Castle there are picnic tables and we enjoyed a lovely lunch in the sunshine ...  more »

  • Has a small but very interesting museum to start with that leads into the castle grounds. Very nice inside just a shame you can't climb the towers or walls.
  • Good English heritage property that features well maintained grounds and ruins of the former Etal Castle. However is a little small and there is not too much to see. The entrance features a museum focused on the Battle of Flooden and the castles links to it. After browsing the museum visitors to the can browse the remains of the tower house and the gatehouse. The vast outdoor grass surrounding the tower house makes a great spot for a picnic and benches are also located around the site should you need them. The castle is just next-door to the Etal Station of the Heatherslaw Light Railway making it a ideal stop for anyone riding the train.
  • Cool historic place to visit.
  • A great place! Really atmospheric and interesting. Polite and friendly staff, a really good morning well spent :)
  • Not much to see but we'll kept.
