The River Avon is an English river in the south west of the country. To distinguish it from a number of other rivers of the same name, this river is often also known as the Bristol Avon. The name "Avon" is a cognate of the Welsh word afon, "river".The Avon rises just north of the village of Acton Turville in South Gloucestershire, before flowing through Wiltshire. In its lower reaches from Bath to the Severn Estuary at Avonmouth near Bristol, the river is navigable and known as the Avon Navigation.The Avon is the 19th longest river in the UK at although there are just as the crow flies between the source and its mouth in the Severn Estuary.   • The River bridge is becoming a place for local artists to paint from with good views up and down stream. Access from here to Monkton park for a more open exploring experience great for children.
  • Nice place for a walk, short or long. along the river in the country park and back along the canal, or River walk to Avon cliff and back along the canal allow at least 2 hours for a stroll, food and drinks at Avon cliff, or at Barton farm on the short walk.
  • Nice tranquil place, needs the sun out to be perfect . Laid back and very relaxing walk
