  • This small attraction stands in the shadow of Ely's magnificent cathedral. The display of the house is done in the same way as many other attractions of this type, story boards, head set, dress up and...  more »
  • Although the Cromwell House is small this museum offers a glimpse into the life of the Cromwell's and life in Ely itself. Well worth a visit.
  • This museum is small but the audio presentation included in the price allied to the way the museum is laid out leads to an informative insight into Cromwell's life and times.

  • Great place with some great history, small but has a lot to offer. We have been a few times, as well as taking part in a great escape room which was a good puzzle solving game for groups, locked in a room for an hour with clues to finding a key to escape, would highly recommend both.
  • I attempted to visit the house an hour before scheduled closing time only to be told that as there was currently a tour in progress I could not visit the house. As I had been told on an earlier occasion that the visits were self guided I asked to be able to take myself around. I was told that there were too many visitors already in the house so I could not see it. As I was alone I would have thought my presence would not have significantly affected those already present. The staff were unhelpful and rather dismissive offering no apology and suggesting that I return the next day. The previous day we had enquired about possible bus trips around Ely and were told that there was basically nothing unless we wanted to take a taxi somewhere. In the event we took the train to King's Lynn and had a lovely day out. Perhaps the staff at the tourist office could have suggested that as an alternative as surely that is what they are there for. I was unimpressed with the attitude of the staff who ought to have been much more helpful and accommodating. Ely is a delightful town not best served by the tourist office staff.
  • This is an attractive old house where Oliver Cromwell lived and has a fascinating museum. As you go around you are challenged to decide whether Oliver was a hero or a villan after reading different facts about his life. Although I knew the basic fact that he took over after the beheading of Charles I, I did not realise there were three separate Civil Wars. Another surprising fact is that proportionately more people were killed in the Civil Wars (about 1 in 10) than were killed during WW1 and WWII! This museum is certainly thought provoking but you will have to decide for yourself whether Oliver was a hero or a villan!
  • Very cool to be here but wasn't paying money to look at old furniture. :)
  • Entertaining presentation, small entrance fee and friendly staff.
