  • Visited with family. The ruin is definitely worth a visit. It's explained that the castle was built more for effect than to be defensible in the event of an attack and that becomes obvious as you walk...  more »
  • A Hidden Gem of a castle, lots of rooms to wonder around in. We spent about one hour and a half here. It was quiet and peaceful. Look out for the secret aumbry. One of the best castles we have visited...  more »

  • Very well presented ruins with lots to see and read about.
  • 1 hour drive to visit from Aberdeen city Don't spend too much time there
  • Have had a quick visit during BOXING DAY ! well, we were looking for a place to visit on less than an hour drive. From the first glance, it is historical castle and drives alot of attention for an archaeologist. The landscape around it is unique and spacious. The kids loved the run but it was cold. The Gallery was closed as well, but the look from outside looks like it is worth a visit.
  • Have visited a couple of times, most recently last month. Lovely castle, friendly staff, and a good proper castle to explore. My 3 year old daughter loves it, although I have to keep an eye on her as there are a few places that she could hurt herself if not careful. Highly recommended.
  • Beautiful ruins of the Castle. Not so crowded, like many other castles. Completely alone there were about 3 hours.
