  • One is stunned by the sheer size of this Abbey and it's hidden locale. Even more amazing is the original building sectons lost when you view the scale model in the vestry area.  more »

  • Truly beautiful and peaceful place, Open to all and can go into church and listen to the monks prayers and hyms very touching. It has very good information on its history. Small shop friendly service. Would highly recommend to see.
  • Wonderful old (still operating) abbey. We loved the stained glass windows. The locals we met were really hospitable.
  • Beautiful building and surroundings. This is a fully functional monastery so lots of areas are understandably off limits to the public. Considering this place has so much history, the amount the public can enjoy is limited. The shop is small but stocked with goods made in the abbey and from the local fields and when not attended works on a trust system.
  • Serene and absorbing place. I expected to see monks in a mediaeval existence but crowdfunding to hit their goals and robot lawn mowers tell me that the monks are not only devout but have a clear understanding of how best to use their time. Given prayers and tending with chores thrown in its unlikely that they have more than thirty minutes to themselves each day. Amazing to think what they have achieved here.
  • Lovely quiet place to sit.
