  • Who has interest in dilapidated buildings with history, you will here find it. We have scheduled it only as a short stop, have become but then visiting not ready as we had booked another appointment. Besides impressive exhibits of stone carvings, there are also the usual boards with explanation of the Cathedral and its history. The view from the Tower, which gives a good overview of the system, but also the region is special.

  • The site is definitely worth a visit, admission fee, about £ 7. The 2 front towers allow to rise. One of the two will make you climb to the top to enjoy the view of the entire site. But those who have already seen San Galgano in Italy (admission € 3.50) certainly has brought to the magnificence of the place, and the comparison, in this writer's opinion, is totally in favor of this last Italian monument.

  • We were content to visit the well-kept ruins of a former imposing Cathedral from outside us. It is worth seeing, recommended and steeped in history.

  • Absolutely fascinating cathedral, eerie and spooky in places, if you like that kind of atmosphere. There was monk chant music playing around the place which added to the haunting atmosphere. Fascinating gargoyle/Stone faces, and especially the one of the "guard dog". The gravestones all have the skull and crossbones on them. To do with the plague? Lovely architecture, even though its a ruin, but it's dramatic and mysterious and romantic. There's also a nice little gift shop selling the CD of the Monk chanting music, other music, scarves, gloves, and postcards of the gargoyles.
  • Wonderful ruins. Great exhibits. Lovely little shop with very helpful staff. Great view of Elgin at the top, if you can climb stairs.
  • Nice kept grounds with the grass cut beautifully. They do hold weddings in the Chapter House. If you feel you want a climb you can climb the tower with good views from the top.
  • Lantern of the North - Steeped in history, not to be missed if your visiting Elgin & Moray. A must for all history buffs.
  • I'm member of English Heritage so I have access to the site, but for those who had to pay there are much more to see than the view. There is an awesome collection of sculptures and the explanations are good and relevant. A full immersion into medieval art.
