Brilliant evening at Waterstone's Edinburgh. We had coffee on arrival prior to a book signing. Cafe staff were super and helpful. Event was brilliant which made my little girl very happy.  more »

Service dreadfully slow. Three guys behind bar seemed to be happier chatting than getting the long queue down.  more »

  • A bookshop with a good range but much the same as every other Waterstones. The cafe within is why I'm really writing this review. Very nice views of the castle outside, nice staff and good coffee. A nice peaceful atmosphere surrounded by books. I would have given 5 stars but take a star off due to the several students sitting with empty cups, on their apple MacBooks studying, while everyone struggles to find a seat. If I were the manager I would ask them to move on if they're not consuming anything. Otherwise Great cafe!
  • Everything good about a book shop. Helpful staff, big selection, and coffee shop with amazing views of the castle.
  • Great four story book shop with in-house cafe that even sells beer. Also children's events and book signings. Quite a clever combination. However, toilets could use more attention.
  • Good bookshop. Good selection. Knowledgeable atafg
  • Wonderfull place to go on Edinburgh. Lovely view até the Castle, upstairs and plenty of books both adult and children.

Where to stay in Edinburgh

Edinburgh hides a maze of cobbled streets dotted with boutique hotels offering inexpensive rooms and outstanding restaurants. Many of the city's Gothic buildings house chic hotels with easy access to most of the city’s main tourist sites. For a uniquely Scottish experience, consider staying in the famous old town. Despite being in this historical district, many hotels here feature contemporary decor with lots of glass walls and muted color schemes. They’re also known for offering spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and restaurants serving classic European cuisine, with a modern Scottish twist.
