  • Very good information about the different regions and their organoleptic differences. Our tour guide John was very nice and funny and has us most the end of tour is still something about whisky discussed. Of a few hints gave us as well as the barman Cody for our collection at home of rather lesser-known Distillerys.

  • The silver tour made and enjoyed it very much. Initially it is carried in "Barrels" the creation process of whiskies, then there is a movie about the five different regions with typical whiskies, the one dispensing of whiskies with more information about taste a room with more information about whiskey, and Ingredients and whiskeys in the room with the largest collection of unopened then the tasting of selected. Then you can whiskies in the next room in addition to the try buy, where, in the price included tasting glass used must be kept. Children under 18 receive a non-alcoholic, typical Scottish drink instead of the whisky. There are still four more tours and the whole thing ends in a shop. A guide in English, this can be in several different languages audio guides free use, so tour in different languages can be used in the progress. Questions on the guide but only in the languages he speaks. Overall very successful for beginners of the whisky and advanced. Intensive whisky lovers can take the (more expensive) tours are tailored to them.

  • What an amazing tour! The whiskey barrel ride was surprisingly good fun while still being educational (although I do wish you had the smells of a distillery). The tour itself was brilliant and our tour guide was very insightful. On the gold tour you get to try some very nice whiskey and I highly recommend it. The bar at the end was really nice and had a few more tipples there - with over 400 whiskeys to choose from it took a while to pick what to drink!
  • My husband and I took the silver tour this afternoon and had a blast! The first 10 minutes are a ride in a barrel detailing how Scotch whiskey is made, and the rest of the 40 minutes were spent with a very sweet and enthusiastic tour guide (I forgot her name, but she's dark-haired, pretty, with a pleasant voice). At the end we had a tasting with one whiskey, which was perfect for me since I'm not a big fan of the stuff. The Peat the cat silhouettes throughout the tour were an adorable touch.
  • I recently took the "Gold" Tour and it was well worth the ticket price. You can take a less expensive tour without the 4 additional tastings at the end if you prefer. For me, taking the tour was to learn, understand overcome my distaste for Scotch. I wouldn't say I've become a regular Scotch drinker but the tour was very informative, easy to understand, and really rather entertaining. I think they've done a great job with their presentations (audibly and visually). Our guide was a young woman who kept the attention of her tour with her knowledge and confidence. You'll learn more than you might imagine, and after watching the video presentation you may find yourself on a tour up to one of the many distilleries located in The Highlands. The video presentation on a large screen is fabulous. And you will not be at a loss if you choose to make a Scotch purchase as the gift shop is filled beyond belief with it! You will find the staff in the gift shop to be helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly. This is a great stop before or after (probably a better idea) a visit to the castle as it's only steps away from The Scotch Whisky Experience!
  • Had a pretty fun time here. It starts with an info tour as you sit in a barrel and get a scripted video on whisky production. Then there's a summary of whisky regions complete with a scratch card with usual profiles for each region. You finish with a tasting and a tour of the whisky collection and get to keep your tasting glass. I did the "Silver" tour. The difference between it and the "Gold" is just the tasting at the end- you get an extra 4 whiskies to taste after the tour is done. In all, I had a fun time. I'd say this is definitely more of a beginner tour. The whiskies they have you tasting are mid shelf ones pretty typical of each region. Experienced boozehounds will probably find they don't learn too much from the videos and the "how to taste" portion was fairly rudimentary. For the money though, there are worse ways to spend an hour. It was £15 for the silver tour and the free glass was worth £5 at least.
  • Fantastic experience, the world's largest whisky collection was amazing! The platinum tour was fantastic and the ride in the whisky barrel was such a great and unique experience. On the tours you can taste various whiskies from the different regions of Scotland and the differences in the tastes are explained really well. I would definitely recommend the tour to anyone who is interested in whisky. Plus if you live in the UK and have travelled to Edinburgh with hand baggage only, you can buy whisky in their shop and have it delivered to your house.
