The Edinburgh Dungeon, Edinburgh

4.0
A fun-packed, theme-driven experience, The Edinburgh Dungeon aims to plunge you into a scary and exciting recreation of the seedier aspects of Scottish history. Theater actors and storytellers complement the dungeon’s deliberately maudlin rides and exhibits through the use of black humor and monologues. Fully interactive, the facility aims to provide a more exciting and fun way to find out about the history of both Edinburgh and Scotland. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Edinburgh trip simple and quick.

OK - its a bit of a typical tourist trap, and after we found out we could get major discounts from the Train Ticket office literally right next door, we decided to try it. However, I would say in retr...  more »

For someone who likes the thrill of activities of terror and uncertainty should visit this place, great actors with props and rooms that make you the creeps

We had great, it amazed us, fun and surprised and really happy to leave. Very recommended for lovers of terror, theater, attractions and the history of Edinburgh. Isn't it beast with fear, but there is good scares and epic and fun moments. The atmosphere and the actors of 10. Although one of them had been too current adidas sneakers and shook us up a little :,) but really great overall!

  • What an amazing place. It's incredibly cleverly done. The actors are brilliant, and the way they disappear and reappear is clever. I have read a review elsewhere that this location is the best of the UK Dungeons. It's scary, yes, but not the the point of horrifying. You know they're actors and that helps those that are unsure about entering. Warnings are always given for any part of the experience that could cause issues to pregnant women, those with pacemakers, etc. The whole thing is very interactive - I got myself a love interest, but I think I might pass! If you can go, do. You will not regret it.
  • It doesn't worth the money. Attractions very poor, a lot of theatrical talking, nothing scary. At entrance and everywhere is clearly written that is not for children under 8 years old but then inside there are too many children underage that after a while start to cry and be scared. Buying tickets online give you not advantages and you have to do the queue with people that has to buy it. With my ticket should I've received a book but never received it. You can spend better your money in Edinburgh
  • I guess I went in with too high of expectations. It was enjoyable but was disappointed on the lack of historical information and context. It was more of cram 30 people in a small room, a creepy story with some flashy lights and a jump scare then ship you off to the next crammed room. It was fine but we wouldn't do it again.
  • It's a great place for tourists! The tour lasts for around one and a half hours and is really worth the money. The staff are really friendly. I heartily enjoyed the theatrical performances! :)
  • Very very good can't fault this place. Looked expensive initially but worth every penny. rides were great and the actors were brilliant!

Where to stay in Edinburgh

Edinburgh hides a maze of cobbled streets dotted with boutique hotels offering inexpensive rooms and outstanding restaurants. Many of the city's Gothic buildings house chic hotels with easy access to most of the city’s main tourist sites. For a uniquely Scottish experience, consider staying in the famous old town. Despite being in this historical district, many hotels here feature contemporary decor with lots of glass walls and muted color schemes. They’re also known for offering spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and restaurants serving classic European cuisine, with a modern Scottish twist.
