  • A great treat to all Sherlock holmes fans & the paw at the foot steps indicates the hound from Baskervilles. Dedicated to the return of Sherlock Holmes must watch if you visit Edinburgh. Just opposite also is the Sir Arthur Canon Doyle Pub
  • As luck would have it, I passed this statue almost every day for three weeks while I was in Edinburgh. It's very non-assuming. It is in the same parking lot as the Tesco Express, right around the corner from Cafe Piccante, and kitty-corner to The Conan Doyle. I wouldn't have noticed it but for the fact that early on I was glued to Google maps and it was like, "BTWs, if you look on not your phone it's just to your left..." Nice, easy stop and not out of your way if you're already on Princes Street near North Bridge.
  • Beautiful statue. Very good details. Good to see him back again. However there was a lot of litter and rubbish which spoilt it a bit. We should take better care of our heroes! Well worth a visit though.
  • Elementary
  • Could report it more appropriately. Secluded in location not really central, the statue representing the famous detective is also worth a visit. Easy to walk.

Where to stay in Edinburgh

Edinburgh hides a maze of cobbled streets dotted with boutique hotels offering inexpensive rooms and outstanding restaurants. Many of the city's Gothic buildings house chic hotels with easy access to most of the city’s main tourist sites. For a uniquely Scottish experience, consider staying in the famous old town. Despite being in this historical district, many hotels here feature contemporary decor with lots of glass walls and muted color schemes. They’re also known for offering spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and restaurants serving classic European cuisine, with a modern Scottish twist.
