Where to stay in Edinburgh

Edinburgh hides a maze of cobbled streets dotted with boutique hotels offering inexpensive rooms and outstanding restaurants. Many of the city's Gothic buildings house chic hotels with easy access to most of the city’s main tourist sites. For a uniquely Scottish experience, consider staying in the famous old town. Despite being in this historical district, many hotels here feature contemporary decor with lots of glass walls and muted color schemes. They’re also known for offering spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and restaurants serving classic European cuisine, with a modern Scottish twist.

  • Pretty small and over too fast but it's a nice building with toilets and it's all free. Staff are polite and helpful. You can see piles of bank notes, old coins and a few video screens showing the area though history. With a visit for free.
  • Quite a small but cute museum. The staff are sooo friendly here and the museum is quite interactive. Worth a visit if you have time. Will take perhaps half an hour to an hour.
  • Very interesting place and very friendly staff. We were able to have a go at making coins how they used to be made. Very fun.
  • You got to learn about money and got to crack a safe and keep a £1 postcard or a £100 postcard
  • The history of the bank of Scotland and artifacts well displayed. Helpful and friendly staff.
