Over 1,000 rare and endangered animals reside at Edinburgh Zoo. On the 33 hectare (82 acre) site, you can see the UK's only two giant pandas and meet its only koalas. Follow the Budongo Trail to interact with chimpanzees and learn more about their connection with humans. View exotic and colorful species of birds in the aviary, observe sun bears in their state-of-the-art enclosure, and sit among diverse collections of trees and flowers in the zoo's garden. These are just a few examples of the experiences available here. Viewing the giant pandas is included in the admission price, but you must reserve your place in advance online. • On first impressions the zoo was great - the animals and the enclosures were all of a good standard. The keepers were well informed and happy to help with any questions - from the young ones to the oldies. A few of the exhibits (the conservation one) was starting to show signs of ageing (missing parts, broken interactive toys, TVs not working) however that didn't detract from the visit. Penguins cafe was very good - really good coffee. It did take a while to get it due to only one member of staff, and other than a lack of sandwiches the cafe was good. Penguins parade was alright - lots of pushing parents wanting their child to be at the front and see the penguins March in front - and as they say it depends if they want to do it; only 2 did in our case. Fairly good value for a good morning or afternoon. It is also easily reached by the 12, 26 or 31 bus from central Edinburgh
  • I was underwhelmed by this place. Firstly, not a bad point just one too point out: wheelchair and pushchair users be aware, this is I a steep hill so a solid workload will be involved to get round the zoo. The zoo is nice enough but there is a lack of animals with only one or two normally in each 'pen'. We also booked a panda viewing for 12.00 but were made to wait in the rain until after quarter past as we were told they had decided to stay inside and therefore they had to limit capacity. To me it would make sense to limit capacity anyway then guests are happy either way (best to under promise and over deliver Edinburgh Zoo). Also why make is queue in the rain when the panda tunnel to the outside area is sheltered and would have for the queue in. Another issue we had is the lack of signposts and static maps around the zoo, this made navigation difficult seen as the heavy rain dissolved our map. The saving grace was the penguin enclosure which is amazing! Other than that as mentioned I was underwhelmed and feel much better value for money can be had elsewhere such as South Lakes animal park.
  • We had a lovely time. Huge open grounds that can get very windy and cold up on high. But a day packed with fun. The prices are a bit dear, but it wouldn't 've a regular trip. The penguin match was a particular favourite.
  • Wonderful Zoo. More about how to care for the animals than exploit them. Book your tickets online, otherwise you could be in for a long queue. Also, if you can't book the slot you want to see the pandas, get to the zoo early, they always hold back some tickets for people who turn up.
  • Nice setting and a good range of animals. Not that many food options and hard to spend a whole day here. There are better zoos around the world.
