  • I went with 4yr old, wife and grandparents. Absolutely magical, the new improved cafe and restaurant felt very special with good food. Nice shops in a lovely location if that takes your fancy, easy go...  more »
  • One of my favourite parks. Excellent for kids. Had Sunday lunch in restaurant varied adult and child's menu god food and friendly staff

  • Very accessible as it's right in the centre of Dalkeith, with parking available both at the gate and in the country park. There have been recent improvements to the waking paths which include a very pleasant river-side walk. There is a good picnic area next to the palace and historic bridge and a new cafe and retail area is due to open later in July.
  • Lovely walks and a great modern visitor centre (cafe, shop etc). If the weather's good there's picnic tables too so great for a summer day out.
  • Brilliant park. You can do the country park strolls or go to Fort Douglas, a fantastic new play park for kids. It does cost money to get in (£3 for 2-5s, £5 for 6-12s) but it's really worth it and better value than a soft play!
  • Newly refurbished children's area. Including castle. Visited during Midfest Family day. Absolutely marvelous. Well worth a visit. With walks. Restaurants and a slice of 1000 year old tree.
  • My go to park for walking my dog. A lot of renovation going on at the moment so exciting times for the park. I have seen loads of beautiful wildlife here, I don't know what I would do without it. I am lucky to have it on my doorstep.
