  • A modern art venue which often shows a number of exhibitions. Mostly free. Just opposite side entrance to Waverley Train Station, perfect for passing time before your train. Cafeteria.
  • Spent Saturday morning in the city art Centre and was very pleased to discover the art room downstairs, the kids loved it. Shame the cafe is over-priced.
  • City Art Centre almost invariably has exhibitions of interest and quality. On my most recent visit, I saw the shows, William Giliies & John Maxwell and Paper Trail: Drawings, Watercolours, Prints: bot...  read more »
  • A great place to meet people i town for a coffee or to meet people off the train. The food is very good with a wide range of meals, including several vegetarian delights.
  • The Edinburgh International Science Festival is an annual event which is housed in various venues for two weeks around Easter. The City Art Centre is the flagship venue with the focus on children and families and it is very well suited. I visited with three 10 year olds and our day passes allowed us to explore many drop in events and attend three workshops. Across the five floors of this exhibition space art-science collaboratives are exhibited along with many interactive exhibits including blowing bubble structures Drop in sessions allowed us to explore eyes using a cow's eyeball and sit at the Blood Bar to learn about scabs. I have attended the Science festival many times over the years with all my children of varying ages and it has just got better and better. It is an easy space to navigate even when bustling with families. It has good facilities and lots of cloakroom space and packed lunch areas. The science festival may be over for this year but it will be back - so will we.
  • Kids loved it and it's generally free admission.
  • Nice gallery and cafe. Staff are very friendly. Food in the cafe is good but is quite expensive for what you get. Great place to meet friends, especially if they are arriving by train as Waverley is just across the road.
  • Really lovely gallery right in the centre of town. They hold big exhibitions in the summer and have had some amazing photography exhibitions in recent years. The gallery is also a major venue for the Science festival in April.
