Tourist Spot Arena / Stadium
Murrayfield Stadium is a sports stadium located in the west end of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Its all-seater capacity was recently reduced from 67,800 to 67,144 to incorporate the largest permanent "big screens" in the country, though it remains the largest stadium in Scotland and the 6th largest in the United Kingdom. The stadium is the home of the Scottish Rugby Union, and is primarily used as a venue for rugby union and hosts most of Scotland's home test matches, the Scottish Hydro Electric Cup final, as well as Pro12 and Heineken Cup matches.Although mainly a rugby union stadium, Murrayfield has in the past hosted American football, rugby league and association football matches and music concerts. One of the most notable of the latter was the Edinburgh 50,000 - The Final Push concert as part of Live 8.LocationMurrayfield is located near to Murrayfield Ice Rink, Murrayfield Curling Rink, and close to Edinburgh Zoo. It is named after the area of Edinburgh it is located in, Murrayfield.

  • Murrayfield is a great day out. Everyone, and I mean everyone, goes to the rugby for a party. Ok, a drink is £5 and often the staff in the beer tent don't have a lot of experience but they work really...  more »
  • I attended the Robbie Williams concert at this venue. Sound was really good seating area was well spaced and comfortable enough. I have seen the concert at other stadiums and think this was the best.  more »

  • Disabled team messed me around and wasted my time. Guy on the phone was good before I arrived but because I didn't have wheelchair and was on crutches when I got there. I was told to walk up stairs and sit in normal stand not disabled seats which I had booked. Bearing in mind I cannot bend my leg. Then complained and moved around again back to original seats. Waste of my time, health and money. Apart from that. Rugby was good of what I got to watch
  • Home of Scotish Rugby. This is my castle. Great place for the family to visit. If you love your sport come join us and support Scottish Rugby. On international game days it's not just a 90 minute session, you are welcomed into BT Murrayfield to enjoy a whole range of activities, hours before and hours after, there are things for all ages.
  • Older stadium but easy to access and great views, near to the pitch. Fun fan zone e outside for beers, gin and tonics, as well as a bite to eat.
  • Even though it is an international rugby stadium, the arrangements for getting supporters in and out were superb. The range of food on offer was impressive, as were the very, very reasonable prices. Twickenham should take note that you don;t have to rip off supporters.
  • Great stadium, no supporting pillars in the way. Helpful and friendly staff. The rugby helps too.

Where to stay in Edinburgh

Edinburgh hides a maze of cobbled streets dotted with boutique hotels offering inexpensive rooms and outstanding restaurants. Many of the city's Gothic buildings house chic hotels with easy access to most of the city’s main tourist sites. For a uniquely Scottish experience, consider staying in the famous old town. Despite being in this historical district, many hotels here feature contemporary decor with lots of glass walls and muted color schemes. They’re also known for offering spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and restaurants serving classic European cuisine, with a modern Scottish twist.
