Where to stay in Edinburgh

Edinburgh hides a maze of cobbled streets dotted with boutique hotels offering inexpensive rooms and outstanding restaurants. Many of the city's Gothic buildings house chic hotels with easy access to most of the city’s main tourist sites. For a uniquely Scottish experience, consider staying in the famous old town. Despite being in this historical district, many hotels here feature contemporary decor with lots of glass walls and muted color schemes. They’re also known for offering spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and restaurants serving classic European cuisine, with a modern Scottish twist.

  • Good use of an old church! Small and friendly place in the North of Edinburgh. A fiver in an Uber taxi will get you there from the town centre.
  • Friendly and helpful staff. Great options for different climbing styles. Good prices too.
  • Seemingly small but they pack great routes into the space. Also has a great deal of variety and a kind, respectful staff.
  • Brilliant climbing gym close to the city centre. Friendly staff, fun routes that change often and a decent bouldering room.
  • Route setters do a good job. Staff are friendly. Can get busy on the weekends.
