  • Although small this is a very good gallery and for lovers of Eric Ravilious’ superb paintings, there is a very good collection. Well worth a visit.  more »

  • Lovely modern open plan architecture. Lifts to all floors. Great little cafe using local supplier. Some very interesting permanent art work and some very interesting temporary exhibits. Lots of support for local events and amateur artists which I love. Fairly newly opened theatre generally showing fringe films. Nice gift shop with some interesting gifts. My only criticism but it is a significant one is that I don't think that the Towner has a broad enough appeal. It is a fabulous building, with some great exhibition space but in my view the gallery tries to hard to show the things that you wont see else where. Not everyone wants to keep seeing fringe, contemporary art, often of a local quality. Sometimes it would be good to attract art with a wider appeal. A good place for an hour or two and a coffee. Public parking either on street or some pay parking 200 -300 metres away.
  • I love that the Towner brings such a variety of art to Eastbourne. I don't always like it, but I am always glad I've been! The Towner collection itself is interesting and varied and the touring shows often spark great discussion in my family, along with brilliant photo opportunities for my older children. The curation is always excellent and the space flexible - a real asset to the local area. In this time of art and creative subjects being side-lined in schools, we desperately need places like the Towner to take up the slack and show us all what art can be and what creativity can produce.
  • A well considered space that's light and airy. Wheelchair friendly throughout. The cafe is a bit stark but plenty of natural light & we didn't feel rushed. It serves home-made food, cakes & good coffee. There is (pay) parking nearby & a shop in the entrance lobby area.
  • Amazing art gallery in beautiful Eastbourne. Exquisite collection and top exhibitions. There's a playroom for kids, Caffè on top floor and a small gift shop. Easy to access and just a short walk from multi stories car park . About 10 min walk to train station and a 5 min or less walk to the seafront. Free entrance .had the chance to see some fascinating paintings from Patrick Caulfied which I absolutely adore. The awe bit was definitely Holden son and father's exhibition about bird's nests ,
  • This wasn't for me I did not understand the art. I can appreciate the work and skill that goes into it but some of the subject matter ......I shall say no more. The gallery itself I liked, big open spaces plenty of room good lighting just a tad to echoie. Staff are enthusiastic and helpful. There is also a very good restaurant. I would go back if there was something more interesting. All I can ssy to you is go and check it out you might be surprised.
