Eastbourne Pier, Eastbourne

3.4
Enjoy a cup of cream tea at Eastbourne Pier, an old-fashioned seaside wharf that has long been a favorite hangout for both local families and passing tourists. The site once included several traditional pier theaters, the last one of which was destroyed by fire in 1970. Today, on the landward half of the pier stand a bar, nightclub, fish and chip kiosk, amusement arcade, and a fast food outlet. Farther out are a small cafe, restaurant, clothing shop, and a tattoo parlor. The tower at the end of the pier is often used as a convenient viewing point during the annual air show. Drop by on a quiet evening to soak up the atmosphere and mingle with the locals. See Eastbourne Pier and all Eastbourne has to offer by arranging your trip with our Eastbourne attractions planner .

  • A lovely Victorian Tea room on here, with a choice of different menu items. I recommend the Sussex Cream tea, with scone, jam, cream and tea. Lovely!  more »
  • We spent a few hours on a very busy day with the Airshow going on around on the pier. Lots to see and do with plenty of food and drink outlets. Certainly worth a visit and a long walk along it.  more »
  • Eastbourne seems to be a very calm and quiet place to be. The pier is nice but lacks in things to do, and there doesn't seem to be much to do. Although it is nice to see it once, it's not something th...  more »

  • I love visiting piers, they are very British and mostly reflect back to the victorian era. This one, although refurbished, retains a lot of what it would have been like all those years ago with a nice tea room, an end of the pier showroom, bars and shops. Luckily the sun was shining on our visit so we spent some time sitting at the end of the pier with a cold drink watching the world go by.
  • It gives great views of the town as well as out to sea. I think there's an arcade but not interested personally. Clean and newly decorated. Looks good. Fish n chips and donuts and picnic benches but you're only allowed to eat pier bought stuff. Hmmm.
  • A good old-fashioned pier, great views from the end. Check out the glass gift shop - beautiful hand made goods at very reasonable prices
  • Lovely pier. Nice place to sit, watch the sea and eat fish and chips. Plenty of picnic tables.
  • The Pier has improved since fire destroyed the main hall which, was once a fine building but in its final years was only used as a slot machine arcade. Under new ownership, the Pier is gradually being renovated and now looks better than it has for many years. It has many tourist shops, a jazz lounge and a tea room that is worth visiting for a cuppa, a sit down and a marvel at the enormous chandeliers that now hang there.
