Well kept gardens and friendly, helpful staff. Car park has always had spaces but the park and ride car park is useful as an overflow. The gardens show a variety of different planting and with a young...  more »

Of interest to plant lovers, especially the cacti house. They do serve teas. Perhaps best to catch a bus as it is a bit of a walk.  more »

  • Well landscaped grounds, nice cafe and lovely and quiet. Great place for young children who enjoy nature to explore, and has a nice little children's garden area that my toddler really enjoyed.
  • Really enjoyed this garden. It was a freezing cold day in winter so not much in flower but still worth the visit, only 10 minutes walk from Durham centre. The cactus house has an impressive collection and was a good place to nip in to warm up. There's a small cafe on site but we just had coffee, which was fine.
  • Botanic Garden offers a wide variety of landscapes and exotic animals to explore and discover. Great to go for a walk, although it would be better in Spring.
  • Very interesting garden. Many things to see but could be a bit difficult for wheelchair users. Access good to top end of garden but lower reaches could be hard work due to incline. Good visitors center with nice food and staff.
  • An absolute hidden gem, beautiful in all seasons. So much to see, and big enough to get a bit lost in if you want somewhere calm and quiet. Great for picnics, summer walks and afternoon tea. Car parking is available and the top gardens are wheelchair accessible. The greenhouses are a magical little world, great for families (or if like me you just really like cacti and giant water lilies)
