Durham Heritage Coast, Durham
(4.6/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Take a walk along the cliffs of Durham Heritage Coast, a once-booming coal mining area now restored to its natural beauty, including the spectacular rock pools at Blackhall rocks. The 17.7 km (11 mi) trail running along the cliffs from Seaham to Crimdon in the south makes a great way to take in the scenery. The coast supports a variety of plant and animal life, and features hidden caves, streams, and waterfalls. If you have time, explore the coast's towns with shops and cafes. Plan your visit to Durham Heritage Coast and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Durham vacation builder.

  • Love it here but then I'm biased. Great dog walking or just walking spot also good for sneaky bike rides. I used to bring my dog here a lot when he was alive bless him. It's handy as due to the cliffs and relative peace and quiet they can't run too far or at least anywhere they can get run over etc.... See some lovely flora and fauna and hints of the old.coal and mining days
  • A fabulous and unique are of County Durham. The area offers great walking, fantastic beaches, flora and fauna.
  • Nice clean beach made popular by tourists who come from all round the world to collect sea glass ! Nice beach to walk dogs along ;)
