Those who love Scottish castles help yourself another way because of that very few stones remain, that recall scarcely the appearance. Those who love landscapes of Scotland, here to stop and enjoy, in addition to the steep promontory on which stands the ruin, the rest of the vision of the surroundings, of land and of water. You will not be disappointed.

Duntulm castle has a long history but now it`s completely in ruins. Not that well preserved either. It was forbidden to visit the ruins in July, because it was dangerous. Didn`t seem to matter to peop...  more »

Just wonderful is the landscape that can be enjoyed from the cliff on which stand the remains of a ruined castle, which seems particularly appreciated also from sheep that graze just behind. The colors of nature are those of the collective imagination: an intensely blue sea and sky, while everything else is a fresh green and perky. It's the greenery of Scotland, covering the mountains and hills that are typical of these landscapes crossed by frequent streams and surrounded by a sea of deep tones. There seem to be just them: the sky, the sea and greenery. Sporadic homes that meet for the little road that skirts the cliffs. This is a magical place, as indeed is the whole Isle of Skye.

  • This castle ruin is in a stunning location, but as is often typical on Skye, is now being left to slowly crumble and fall into the sea. For safety reasons, it is no longer possible to access the ruin, but during my visit, one or two disgruntled Americans who "...had travelled 10,000 miles to be there" vaulted the fence and explored at their own risk. There are hundreds, if not thousands of spectacular views on Skye, so in its current sorry state this castle isn't really worth making a special trip.
  • Breathtaking views. One of the most picturesque places on Earth.
  • Incredible sunset views here - if you're on Skye with good weather DO NOT MISS THIS!
  • Stunning views, high exposure to the elements. Need to tell through a field for 3-5 minutes to actually approach the castle.
  • You can't really come close to the ruins as they are classed as unstable. So, not really much to do there
