First of all, is this a nature reserve? I thought most of Dungeness was privately owned and there was open public access. There is an RSPB reserve nearby. Anyway, Dungeness is bleak, it is Dickensian ...  more »

This is very unique place. Parts feel abandoned and some houses look creepy. It's great for walks and fishing. Light house is open to visitors. The restaurant has been refurbished and is clean and nice. There was a stall serving local bear and wine outside the station.

Aimed very much at the bird spotter. Some good hides and plenty of variety of species. Nice activity sheet for the children. Well signposted walks. Scenery largely uninspiring - mostly disused gravel workings that are in the process of neutralizing. Lots of brambles though paths are kept nice and clear. Overall - great if you are an avid bird spotter, good for children and others to spot other creatures on the ground as well, but if you just want to go for a walk there are many places with better scenery.

Interesting landscape and apparently it's officially a desert. Struggled to walk on the stones but there are good roads through and some areas of boardwalk. Also a cute little narrow gauge train.

I spent a couple of hours here at least, lots of old forgotten boats to take photos of, two light houses the original old black light house I understand was actually moved due to reseeding sea, it's much further out than when the light house was built. I paid the £4 to go up the old light house which is really worth it just for the view, not for the faint hearted. There is a pub and the light railway terminates here. I arrived on my Vespa which made for a really pleasent ride.

Stunning area. It was great to get around and the boardwalk makes getting down to the beach easy for those of us in wheelchair
