  • Dundonald Castle was the last place I'd visited during my little trip around Scotland on that cloudy and cold morning. I get there by local bus from Kilmarnock. The place where Stewart dynasty was...  more »
  • We hadnt been here for a few years but things have improved. A new cafe and visitor centre/shop at bottom of carpark and there is now a new very steep pathway up to castle but the views are amazing.....  more »
  • Was unexpectedly pleased with visit as there was more to see than first reaction on seeing castle. It had quite a walk uphill to get tot top but the view was great. Then when you went inside so much.....  more »

  • Love our castle on the hill. It's amazing. The history is so interesting and the tour guides are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The visitors centre and coffee shop is well worth a visit. They have delicious cakes and can make all different kinds of coffee. Gluten free is catered for, can highly recommend the scones.
  • A nice wee place where you can observe and imagine the past and enjoy the view. There's a visitor centre at the bottom of the castel which has a small exhibition where you can read and prepare before going up the hill. They serve food and a delicious coffee which you can bring with you during the exploration. The tickets are maybe a bit too expensive but, considering that the castle is a main attraction in the area, it makes totally sense.
  • A wonderful mix of local geography/history, the makings of Robert The Bruce and stories between the Scots and English throughout the past millennia. Spider lovers can also experience a rare breed of species (for Scotland) if you look hard enough
  • Great to see the Castle in good condition. I have many memories of the Castle, as i am a Dundonald Boy, to see many Couples being maried in the Castle. I have lots of Happy memories of the Castle. The views from the top are immense.
  • I love history. I'm fascinated by the ruins of castles and homes from ages past. Dundond Castle is lovely. Thank you David for your history lesson, for your cheerful demeanor and pause in sweeping duties. It was greatly appreciated. It's clear you love your job.
