(4.3/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
Perched on a point surrounded by the waters of the Firth of Tay, Broughty Castle stands as a survivor of multiple battles, sieges, and conflicts. Originally constructed at the tail end of the 15th century, this stout fortress has undergone multiple improvements and renovations throughout its history. • Visited this afternoon whilst my wife was still on New Year break. From all the 'excellent' reviews on Tripadvisor I was interested to see what it had to offer. The grounds of the castle are well kept...  more »
  • Great value, worth seeing, pleasant staff. You get a real taste of history and the views are great of the Tay estuary and over to Fife
  • This castle was built to protect the City of Dundee. The museum contains a comprehensive history of the castle and also the local community and of whaling exploits

  • Excellently preserved historic castle with stunning views up and down the Tay. Some interesting artifacts and historical information. Free parking and free admission just an added bonus. Some of the internal stairs are very narrow and steep so not really accessible to some. Overall a good couple of hours.
  • its Free! Nice to drop by and explore. We also saw dolphins in the water.
  • The castle is pleasant but the museum was not worth the time.
  • Nice place to visit for a few hours with crazy golf course or beach and kids play area with loads of shops nearby if looking for food and drink.
  • A lovely little foray into local history. The castle is well presented, though the staircase is quite steep and narrow. The staff are very knowledgeable about the exhibits and always helpful. Great views of the surrounding beaches too
