Where to stay in Dumfries

As Dumfries is just a small city within the Dumfries and Galloway region, the city itself is somewhat limited on places to stay. You'll find a handful of mid-range to high-end hotels in the city--if you're intent on being based in Dumfries, it's best to book early to avoid disappointment. Otherwise, there are plenty of options in nearby cities and towns such as Sanquhar, Lockerbie, Auchencairn, and Thornhill.

  • Our family (2 adults, 2 boys 9 & 7) loved this park. We spent around 5 hours here. The farm park is very spacious so even if it was busy we didn't notice. There is so much to do. There is a clean restaurant with a good selection although you can bring your own picnic to eat outside (likely cheaper). Bathrooms were clean. Lots of areas for kids to clean their hands after touching the animals. Highly recommend.
  • Beautiful beautiful area. Fantastic park with extremely well looked after livestock and animals. Quad bikes were brilliant fun and we had to go on twice! Lots and lots to do for the ultimate all-day experience in the Solway Coast/Dumfries area. Highly recommend!!!
  • Our kids loved this place. We will be back again. Lots of fresh air, running about, quad bikes too.
