  • A wonderful day in a superb location. Everything about this venue is excellent and the most friendly and helpful staff, restaurant has extensive menu and as someone who enjoys 'good' food I can honestly say you will not be disappointed it is excellent! Staff in restaurant, ticket office and guide in the house could not be more friendly and helpful at this privately owned venue, definitely worth a visit!
  • Great place to visit. A treasure house full of history and little nooks and crannies oozing history. Grounds, although it was raining was great too with many different views and vistas to experience. The restaurant for a soup lunch and pudding was very good too. We will definitely visit again and recommend to everyone.
  • The house and gardens are good and well worth a visit but the restaurant lets it down badly. Service was slow - was it table or counter service? There was no menu available as they could do "anything" so we ordered hot chocolate with cream and an espresso. Well "anything" did not include cream on the hot chocolate - they had none. This was 11am on a Sunday morning! They served the espresso but it was not an espresso - more like half a cup of black coffee and the waiter placed his thumb firmly on the rim of the cup as he transferred it from tray to table. We complained but were informed by a more senior member of staff that the chocolate was good because it was made from real chocolate and the espresso had been made again as they got it wrong the first time. Well as far as we were concerned they got it wrong the second time and the hot chocolate should be hot if it contains real chocolate not luke warm. If I complain - which I rarely do- I expect apologies not excuses or justifications. If you are thinking of this place for a wedding venue I suggest you try a simple coffee there first.
  • Lovely house and gardens. Work still being done on parts of garden. House has secret passages and an interesting history. Also used to hold weddings now, I believe. Well worth a visit. It also has a cafe.
  • We've just attended a wedding here, beautiful house and gardens, excellent food and the staff were very friendly and attentive, I would thoroughly recommend a visit or wedding there!
