  • It's far too busy with the house not being fully open. The EH website leads you to believe the house is open with some areas being restored but the whole house was shut today leaving the plethora of o...  more »
  • The gardens here are simply amazing & well worth a long visit. The house is also good & staff very knowledgable & so helpful for me in my powerchair. We spent 3 to 4 hours here & would happily go back...  more »
  • It is true that many areas of the house are under wraps but this is interesting in itself and many of the craftsmen are only too willing to explain their work. The history of the house and the story o...  more »

  • Very nice place, all the staff we're friendly and passionate about the place, clean and well maintained. Gardens were lovely, think we picked one of the best days of the year to visit even though was mid October! Ladybirds everywhere too! Very pleasant. Didn't eat in the cafĂ© so cannot comment on that aspect. Spent approximately 2h30 there.
  • Lovely place and gardens. Would visit again. They are doing restoration work but even so it's a lovely house. The gardens are brilliant and tea room has lovely cake. Yes it's a little pricey for sandwiches but not too bad. Didn't pay for entry as English hert members. Staff are lovely and especially Dorothy
  • Had a very good day here the gardens are beautiful. We did the guided tour first very informative then went round the grounds great place for photography. Then back in the house on our own , different guides in each room who can answer your questions all very knowledgeable. Will come again when the work is finished as by then the house will be stunning should be done by October we were informed
  • The gardens are large and very well maintained. There is a nice team room and a good children's play area. I have only been in the house once but it was good to see. This tour is wheelchair accessible also. I would look at allowing at least 1 hour to see just the garden, 2 hours to see both. Enjoy!
  • Only had time to go into the Tea Room and the kids play park but fantastic atmosphere and grounds. Will definitely go back. May 2017 - returned to view the house and gardens in the sun. Brilliant. Great atmosphere. House under serious conservation but possibly a once in a lifetime aspect of how this is done. Gardens magnificent and great for the kids. Cafe very good but gets crowded quick. Be prepared for a long queue, or take a picnic and a flask and enjoy lunch in the gardens at your own pace.
