  • This bridge was built in 2004 as outstretched hand between the 2 opposing factions: Protestants and Catholics. The bridge has a great symbolic value and has a beautiful architecture.

  • My family and I found the Peace Bridge a fairly emotional experience. Perhaps because my husband and I grew up during the Troubles it had more of an impact upon us than it would have otherwise. However, when you stop to read the many messages of love, support and hope for those in despair or feeling suicidal and alone, the Bridge offers a lovely feeling of shared humanity. I found this aspect of our visit to Derry and to the Peace Bridge very uplifting. Sitting on the benches on the bridge, you can enjoy the lovely scenic views or just people watch. The Peace Bridge is very popular with runners and cyclists too so there is a great energy about it. It definitely worth visiting, even if for just a short time.
  • The bridge is always nice. It's great for getting across the river and leads to the heart of both sides. It's always tidy and clean, I've appreciated my use of this bridge.
  • A iconic landmark in Derry/Londonderry situated on the foyle connecting waterside to cityside. Couples often place padlocks on the railings of this bridge in a new effort at trend setting.
  • Nice place to go for a walk. Well designed bridge. My kids loved crossing it.
  • This is a lovely walk across the Foyle giving great views of the city. Derry is a wonderful city to visit and explore

Where to stay in Derry

Derry, or Londonderry, town center is a lively place to stay. Although the town itself suffered during the Troubles in Northern Ireland, the center stayed safe and has thrived. Consider an inn in the town center, perhaps a building painted with one of the well-known murals. less expensive hotels are available just outside the town's central area, close enough to the main attractions for convenient access.
