Don't just look at the bridge, (although it is beautiful) take a stroll over it. (Can be a bit windy, so wrap up). It's a great walk over the River Foyle to Ebrington Square/Mute Meadow and the Sailor Sculpture. The cityscape view from the square is worth taking in/admiring. (Train station is over this side of the river as well).
My husband is a civil engineer and we stop and look at many bridges. He was impressed with the engineering and we both appreciated the beauty of the bridge We walked across the bridge (an easy walk for those who are interested).
Highly recommend taking the time to walk across the bridge as the sun is going down. I didn't see anything on the opposite side from the city that was all that interesting but the walk itself was well worth it. The view of the city with the sun setting behind it and look out across the calm water was really nice.

One of the nicest locations in the city. Perfect route to walk to work or college.
Nice bridge for a walk over to the park from the city. Iconic part of Derry already.
