  • My wife and I have lived in the village of Dedham for over 30yrs and have visited the museum only a few times and enjoyed it each time, Recently we heard on the grape vine that a new cafe had just open and we thought we would give it a go. What a little treasure we found "The garden cafe" to be. Lovely light lunches, my wife had pan fried sea bass and I went for local ham and salad...it was delightful. Combined with a visit to the museum and surrounding garden it does not get much better.
  • Sir Alfred Munnings was an exceptionally gifted painter and sculptor. There is a good selection of his work here and you can see the studio where he worked. The independently run Cafe on the site is very good and open all year around. Shame he isn't as well known as Constable. Well worth a visit, but check opening times for the Gallery. From the 1st April opening times run from Wednesday to Sunday inclusive from 14:00 to 17:00 plus Bank Holidays. Update 31st October 2014:- The cafe has now closed. Hopefully someone else will take it on as it was a sorely needed addition to the Munnings "Offerings".
  • Exquisite brushstrokes and an instinctive master of tone and colour. Jaw dropping horse sculptures. Superb pencil drawings even from an early age. Sir Alfred Munnings was surely the best British painter of the 20th Century. Great museum with very friendly staff, and with delicious cakes the café shouldn't be missed either!
