Coleton Fishacre, Dartmouth

(4.8/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Inspired by the Arts and Crafts and Art Deco design movements, Coleton Fishacre is the epitome of fine craftsmanship and style. The house has been featured twice in Country Life magazine as the ideal in tasteful country living. The property extends all the way to the nearby sea and includes exotic gardens planted by the house's first owner, Lady Dorothy Carte. In fact, Lady Carte hired a staff of six to care for the gardens while there were only four staff members for the house. Purchase tickets  on site from the National Trust staff. Make Coleton Fishacre a centerpiece of your Dartmouth vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Dartmouth vacation generator.

  • Beautiful place, stunning sea views, wonderful gardens, very steep hill though. If you go to the bottom of the hill you can pop out onto the coast path - go straight through the gate and turn right for another amazing viewpoint. Once you've staggered back up the hill the cafe will be a welcome reward!
  • Coleton Fishacre, former home of the Doyley Cartes near Dartmouth now National Trust is a place my wife and I visit about four times a year to enjoy the changing seasons in their gardens with stunning plants and views. There is also a Brilliant relatively small restaurant but with seating inside and out provides a perfect place to meet with friends and family. Lovely choice of food every day, well worth a visit!😀
  • A beautiful walking area around the 1920s National Trust house. Make time for a nice walk here and give yourself time to look around the gardens, too. Wonderful views of the beach and nature in general.
  • A gorgeous hilly garden to explore with plenty of interest for all tastes. Colour and running water plus sea views all add up to a very enjoyable walk. Access to the South West Coast path with stunning coastal views for the more active amongst you. I've been a member of the National Trust for many years and always enjoy a visit to the house and gardens.
  • Lovely grounds to saunter around. Children liked running around and hiding. House very art deco... and nice touch with a treasure hunt type search for the children.
