Castell Henllys, Crymych

Castell Henllys is an important archaeological site in north Pembrokeshire, Wales, between Newport and Cardigan.
This Iron Age hillfort has been the subject of an ongoing excavation for more than twenty years, accompanied by an exercise in reconstruction archaeology whereby experiments in prehistoric farming have been practised. Four roundhouses and a granary have been reconstructed on their original Iron Age foundations
During the summer the site acts as a training excavation for young archaeologists.
The site is a popular visitor attraction and is owned by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

  • Would recommend this place to everyone. The coffee was lovely also and the staff go above and beyond. Thank you to the lady who gave advice about where to go we found those places with a beautiful sunset but no dolphins.
  • Lovely place. Nice walk and the kids really enjoyed themselves. Nice little cafe stop at the end for some coffee and cake.
  • Reasonably priced but was disappointed! What we saw was good but there were no activities to take part in as was advertised to take place over school holidays. Only one member of staff to answer questions etc, no information written about the history etc apart from minimal on leaflet map.
  • Senior Crew of Ladies and Gentlemen keeping this old train going and if you watch closely you see that they almost have as much fun as urself. It's actually very nice. Friendly and fun for the family. One trip I enjoyed.
  • Excellent visit lots of things for children also. A very enjoyable experience enjoyed breadmaking and face painting. Round houses great as were the living historians. Great fun
