  • I visited the windmill with my son and loved listening to the history and being able to go all the way to the top. Its a must for anyone who is in the area!
  • very interesting guided tours available of a very attractive windmill in the middle of a small housing estate.
  • Went to the open day. Volunteers provided lively and interesting insight into this tour of the windmill. Nice little tea shop. Worth a visit on a lazy Sunday.

  • I had no idea this was here. My father, who was visiting from America, wasn't in the mood to go far and was looking for something off the beaten track (but still on an easy bus route) to check out. The solution: The Shirley Windmill It's open on day a month (or something to that effect), but we didn't go on whatever day that happened to be. Instead, we walked up, walked around, took some pictures, marveled in this rural relic of Victoriana, and then went to lunch a bit further up the road.
  • Is a beautiful windmill, perfectly conserved, great to visit, unfortunately is close during winter.
  • One of only four windmills open to the public in greater London, Shirley windmill is owned by Croydon council and opened and run by The Friends of Shirley Windmill. The mill is open to the public on the first Sunday of the month from June to October from 1pm to 5pm as well as National Mills day and Open House day from 12noon until 5pm. Refreshments teas and cakes available at the visitors centre.
