  • There are two bookshops that I rarely enter without buying at least one book. The first is Blackwell’s in Oxford … and the second is this bookshop in Cromford. The last time, I was here, I found a sec...  more »

  • This is one of the happiest places to visit when you're in Derbyshire or the surrounding area and you're into books and reading. This quirky bookshop has several floors of new and used books on almost every topic and subject you could ask for. The books are well-inventoried for ease of browsing. The cafe serves great snacks and coffee. Scarthin Books really is amazing.
  • Great old book shop with plenty of character. Full to the brim with old and new books on all subjects, including a room of sheet music. One or two nooks and crannies to explore, along with a few chairs to sit in and make your mind up on what to buy. Unfortunately couldn't recommend for people with mobility issues as access to the building would be very limited for wheelchairs and there are many tight stairs and corridors.
  • My favourite bookshop in the world. Books from floor to ceiling, wall to wall, on everything you can think of. Thr cafe (all vegan food) is a great place to grab a drink or a tasty lunch and enjoy a new purchase.
  • Lose yourself for hours looking at the shelves in here. It's not a big shop but the books are piled high and cater for every conceivable taste. A must if you love books.
  • Really quaint old book shop with a lovely cafe upstairs. Very quaint and full of character a throw back to how book shops used to be.
