  • Simply the best bookshop in the country. Wandering round the rooms is a joy, the peaceful atmosphere, the tempting smells of fresh coffee and food drifting from the cafe. I was astonished once to see grape vines complete with bunches of grapes hanging from the ceiling of one of the rooms!
  • Great bookshop with new and second hand books. Coffee shop serving vegan and gluten free food.
  • Unbelievable!!! This fantastic bookshop found me a book and I didn't even know the title!!! That is service!! Thank you so much Guy and Wendy! You turned detective and went above and beyond to help me locate a book of great sentimental value. Many, many thanks. Ann T.
  • Myself and my partner visited this afternoon for the first time in some years as part of a circular walk (Arkwright's mill, the canal, High Peak Junction, High Peak Trail) . On previous visits we had the kids with us (now grown up) and they always loved the children's books room so we looked in and it is filled with good memories. The bookshop is a delightful treasure and full of interesting nooks and crannies. We were very ready for lunch so we decided to have a proper meal in the cafe and it was so good that I'm already planning further visits to take some of our other friends there (great healthy and satisfying vegan & veggie food - our meals were £7.50 each).
  • amazing, asked a young fella working at your bookshop if you had any sudoku books, yes he said, I put it on the shelves myself, was back with it in minutes, sudoku challenge your brain published by next, best sudoku puzzle book I've ever had, bargain at £2.50, saw him later on train to matlock, big big thank you :-)
