  • Its not unique but its rare to find such a complete example of faith stamping. Not much information on site and most definitely one for a dry visit. Parking is quite limited but free.  more »
  • Even though this is not a large historical site, this is a very interesting and atmospheric place to visit. It is also dog friendly which is lovely to walk round with the dog. Though I do notice not e...  more »
  • Not a large place by any means, but one you will love to visit especially in the late spring or early summer is the Knowlton church ruins built that sit on an ancient Iron Age fort site. Peaceful and ...  more »

  • This is wonderful place, very spiritual. There are just ruins of the church and surrounding earthworks. I don't think it receives many visitors so you will find a peaceful spot to enjoy the church with stunning views across the countryside. Not much mobile signal here so you can truly 'switch off'!
  • Anyone interested in history and archaeology will enjoy a visit here. Usually quiet, enjoy the atmosphere of a prehistoric ritual site reused in Norman times. The ruined church is very picturesque sitting in the middle of the henge. This general area is full of important archaeological sites and there is great walking and you'll find several excellent pubs.
  • A superb place to visit for 20 mins. Although there is not much left to the church, the surrounding views are spectacular! Information is well laid out and access is decent.
  • Very peaceful place but can be popular with dog walkers. It can get very busy at certain days or nights during the year with Druids and Witches holding their ceremony. The ground can be quite muddy when it was raining and then will be unsuitable for the disabled. Also, there are no sitting facilities and you would need to bring your own chairs. It is also advisable to bring a jacket etc as the church is on a wide open plane and it can get quite windy and cold even in the summer.
  • Such a find. You might blink and miss this lovely ruined church set amidst ancient earthworks. At the far end is an area used by folk to leave behind various ribbons, danglies and visual prayers for various folk. It is so quiet, and so unspoiled that noisy people would damage the fragile calm of the area. Go at sunset, stay quiet, and soak up the history of spirituality here.
