Visit the medieval world’s answer to sophisticated government defense at Conwy Town Walls. Walk along the walls for less than 1.6 km (1 mi), then tour the full structure and inspect its 12 towers, three gate houses, 480 firing positions, and 12 ancient latrines. The walls date to 1287 and were among the most expensive installations of the time. They served to protect Conway Castle, which they did through several rebellions. Today, they remain completely intact and are among the best preserved in Europe. See Conwy Town Walls and all Conwy has to offer by arranging your trip with our Conwy travel itinerary planner.

Lived in Conwy all my life and never walked the walls until today. It was a nice experience. It is what it is, walking around the walls of a fortified town. It doesn’t cost anything and could be... more »

Incredibly impressive complete ring of walls, dating from the 13th century. There is a section that is too unsafe for walking on, but you can walk most of the way around, as long as you're reasonably mobile and fit. The views are fantastic and this really feels like touching history.

Really cool history with these walls surrounding the town. At times the walk was quite steep. Also, I will say, it was a bit confusing on the walls nearest the castle (southwest). They seemed to end but then you walked a few blocks and picked back up. Anyways, I would definitely do this if in the city for a visit. 30 minutes max.

Free to enter and easy to explore. It takes perhaps 20 minutes to walk the full length of the walls. Great views of the Castle, Bay and City Center.

Walking the walls isn't for the faint hearted. The walls go quite high up and have fairly low barriers in many places so it's not somewhere you'd want to be on windy day! The views are great though and there's no admission charge so there's no excuse not to have look, although having said that there's no disabled access so not everyone will be able to get up there.

Free to go and walk along - great views from the top. Takes around 20-30 mins to walk around them all. Definitely recommended!
