Park · Hidden Gem · Sports Complex
Eirias Park is a 50acre public park in Colwyn Bay, Conwy County Borough, Wales, sometimes described as "The park by the sea".
Situated within the park is the Colwyn Leisure Centre, whose facilities include a six-lane 25-metre swimming/leisure pool with various water features and a separate water slide. There is also a fitness suite, health suite, sauna, steam room and warm spa pool. The newly developed Eirias Events Centre, built in 2011, holds conference and classroom facilities for business and commerce events, as well as an indoor pitch, a gym and high performance sports analysis facility.
Outdoor facilities within the complex, includes a sports stadium, Eirias Stadium, with a grandstand and floodlit synthetic hockey/football playing area. Additional facilities include indoor and outdoor tennis courts, bowling greens, boating lake, children's playground and picnic area.
Stadiwm Zip World is a rugby union stadium that is part of the outdoor complex of the Eirias Events Centre. The stadium had been used for low key community sporting events, until its redevelopment in 2011, where it now can host international televised events.
The original Stadium pre 2011, had been used for various sporting events. Colwyn Bay F.C. had played on three different grounds at Eirias Park during their history. The Arena was a temporary home during the early 1980s prior to the club's move to their present Llanelian Road home ground. In 2008 the park had been identified by the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) as a venue for the newly founded rugby union team RGC 1404. The team was initially planning to join the Welsh Premiership, with an eventual goal of becoming the fifth Welsh rugby region, for domestic and European tournaments. In light of this, the park were in need of a number of improvements that reaches international standard and so that it can be officially considered a stadium. In January 2010, the proposed redevelopment was approved by the local council, with work starting later that year.

  • Great place to go with your kids if they love bikes, scooters or skateboards. Really nice place for a picnic too.  more »
  • Beautiful park with plenty to see. Quite a long climb up but benches along the way to rest. Lots of interesting things to see.  more »
  • Just looking for a coffee and sit down we chose Eirias Park without knowing what was there. As it turned out the cafe in the sports centre supported an outside seating area which overlooked play...  more »
  • Its just a muddy field with some dirty water in the middle. If you're not walking a dog you'd have no reason to go there, and if you are walking a dog, be weary of other dogs there as people let them off their leads regardless of their behaviour or recall. They have a free firework display in November and occasionally hold summer events there and of course the leisure centre and arena is nearby but the park itself is nothing special.
  • This is OK for children. Rides are OK. And close to beach as well. Good small green belt near beach.
  • I have not been to Eirias Park for many years. I went their a couple of weeks ago to play bowls. The bowling green are a disgrace. The bowling club itself are a credit to the park but they do not maintain the greens. The council should be ashamed of themselves for not maintaining the greens to a decent level
  • Great place for dog walkers children in the park and the wildlife area big pond with ducks to feed . Hire bikes cafe bowls lots to do the park holds big events to rugby ECT
  • Eirias park what can I say it's a Colwyn Bay classic. I've got to admit though it was a shame they built that new football pitch it stole away some of the natural green space of the park and It took a bit of my soul with it, but hey everything changes, just sentimental about it I suppose. But still a good park to go to if you are considering visiting Colwyn Bay. Calling all watersports enthusiasts 'The Bay' has the best beach around!
