Where to stay in Colchester

A short train ride from London, Colchester is a university and working town. Hotels in the town center are near the main attractions, but for less expensive lodging consider a room near the university campus, which is situated in a tree-filled parkland.

  • A stunningly beautiful place. Can't believe it's in the middle of a built up area. The park has a beautiful lake which you can fish in the open season. Lovely walks in the woods. A large expance of greenery complete with seats which goes down to the beautiful lake. The park has an assault course play area for children aged 8 and upwards. Also picnic table area and visitor information shop.
  • It's a really nice place to walk your dog or just go for a run or a walk. Good place to get some fresh air.
  • Great for kids dogs and families. Good walks. Beautifully lake. Dipping pond.
  • I spend a shed load of time here. Visit nearly every day - whether it's walking the fog, looking for great photos, picking elderflowers/berries for homebrew or just taking in the peaceful Essex countryside a spit's distance from Colchester town centre. There's also a good number of geocaches to find!
  • Great place to go for a walk and explore. My two year old loves being outdoors. There are ducks for her to see aswell as other nature in the Lake. The park is slightly big for her but she gives it all a go.
