To get the most from visiting The Castle Museum, you need to take the guided tour which takes about 1 hour. Just paying to enter the castle does not give you access below or onto the roof. You also miss out on a very knowledgeable guide. Adding £3 to take the tour made the overall experience worthwhile. However, if you choose not to take the guided tour you have access to some interesting and well appointed displays. There are people in costume who bring the exhibits to life and to ask questions. The castle is within a lovely park in Colchester.
I loved it. Its an amzing play for your choldren to go and learn some more history
Excellent and suprisingly good museum. Terrific roman history and artifacts.
Nice place to visit. A bit crammed up due to the size of the castle but there's loads of history here. Lots of fun games and puzzles and multimedia. Good for children and groups.
I understand that the Castle Museum has just been refurbished , they've done a really good job with it...took the family and really enjoyed it...then spent the afternoon in the lovely castle park grounds.
