  • The castle is very nice from the outside, inside is a Museum of local history. Interesting on the first floor the Roman section, meaningless one on the ground floor. Admission £ 7.50. Visiting in 40 minutes.

  • Of course I recommend as the city itself, and Museum, located in a small park. A lot of the exhibits. Entrance fee. Fun for kids. The exterior is surrounded by a moat

  • Amazed by the projection taht tells the story about the castle. Being one of the earliest castles still preserved in the world, the exhibition encourages visitor to touch and feel some of the ancient ...  more »

  • You'll be able to see it in a couple of hours. But they've put a lot of work into the place. Plenty of interactive elements. Have a walk round the park too. Take a picnic and you can spend all day here. The kids play area is impressive too.
  • This is the largest Norman keep in Europe. The building is built on the vaults of an earlier Roman Temple dedicated the Emperor Claudius - if you get a chance to take a tour of the vaults it is worthwhile. Much of the building is built from material from the ruins of the Roman Town. The castle itself houses an impressive collection of historical finds from in and around Colchester, Britain's oldest recorded town, as well as documenting, explaining and interpreting Colchester's place in history.
  • Absolutely loved this, the kids had great fun really impressed that they had a lift to get the pram up to the 1st floor as well! Great exhibitions and even Celtic face painting :)
  • Absolutely love Colchester Castle Park and the museum as it's very interesting and flooding with history awesome place
  • Visited for a wedding but noticed the interesting artefacts throughout. A pleasant setting upstairs for a wedding.
