  • Colchester castle is open to the public all year round and sits surrounded by parkland and beautifully kept gardens, there is a children's play area with swings etc and which is very safe. Also a boat...  more »

  • Been a couple.of times in summer the last time there was a small event on for children. The park itself is one of the nicest inner city parks IV seen. Large ornamental Pon d with fish and lots of seating. In a shaded area. Clean toilets .. lovely walks . Very big and unusual play area .. effort has been out in to create diff play apparatus. Lovely cafe quite a.walk but worth it . I struggle with walking so lots of stop of places to rest. Well worth a afternoon in good weather.
  • It's the best part of Colchester. It has the Castle, a great kids' playground (which my son loves), a bandstand which showcases brass bands from all parts of Essex, a boating lake, cricket ground and a big field where various festivals take place through the year. It's obviously best in Summer and early Autumn but still has its charms through the colder months. The little cafe near the bandstand serves great ice cream too.
  • Loooove the park. Great for kids as there's a very well equipped play park and sand pit. Lots of happenings. Great for a Sunday (or weekday) picnic. Kids love the fish pond :)
  • We're very lucky to have such an amazing place in the heart of Colchester. My favourite place to visit.
  • What's not to love? Would be nice to walk your dog on a lead through upper castle park.
