  • Start by browsing the village on foot in order to soak up the place. Indeed, many houses, pubs and shops kept their original character and architecture. Paycocke's house allows you to relive several centuries back. The National Trust volunteers are very welcoming and helpful, willing to answer all your questions. The Interior of the House is a maze with many small stairs. The floors are so ill-suited to people who are struggling to move. They can however visit the ground floor and take place in the part reserved for the coffee. This one is cheap and the cakes are tasty. The large outside garden is well maintained with a pedagogical concerns to explain the plants which are presented. A place to visit especially as Essex is quite poor in National Trust properties.

  • This historic house surrounded by Tudor times very beautiful and well-kept garden, open to visitors. Here you can spend a great day outdoors. There is a café and a shop with souvenirs.
