Painshill Park, Cobham

4.1
#2 of 11 in Things to do in Cobham
Painshill 18th century landscape garden was created between 1738 and 1773, by the Hon. Charles Hamilton. Inspired by Renaissance art and his Grand Tours across Europe, he created a sequence of breathtaking and surprising vistas. The landscapes form living works of art into which Hamilton placed follies for dramatic effect.

Today, England's most elegant 18th century landscape garden, Painshill is open for the public to come and admire. You can spend a whole day at Painshill or there are shorter accessible routes around the Serpentine Lake. Dogs on short leads are welcome. Bring a picnic or visit Hamilton’s Tea Room. Visit the Painshill Shop for gifts, greeting cards and to buy Painshill English Sparkling Wine and Honey.

  • Painshill Park is a great way to spend at least a couple of hours. The park is (at time of this review) £8 per adult, and I think it's worth every penny. There are plenty of big wide open spaces. Ther...  more »
  • Decided to visit Painshill Park as needed to go for our dog for a walk. Quite expensive at £8 per person. We had a nice walk around the historic walk although part of it is fenced off and signage coul...  more »
  • This is a really lovely place for a peaceful walk in a Grade 1 listed landscape. Yes there is the sound of the A3 at times in the back ground but there is so much to see, listening to the bird life an...  more »

  • Absolutely Awful ! I visited the conservatory at Painshill Park for an open day on the 6th June. I have to say this was one of my favourite venues until I visited. I was appalled by the carpet as it was stained and smelt as did the chair covers which were damaged and had a lingering food and odour smell to them. I was highly disappointed with this and immediately put me off. This is a shame as guests at a wedding would pick up on this – considering the price to hire you would think it would be in a better condition. Would not recommend this venue after what I have witnessed
  • Overpriced, overrated cattle market for works Christmas party! Bought the drinks wristbands package... complete and utter waste of money, limited to beer, wine and soft drinks only... I don't drink any of those so ended up having to pay for drinks! With regards to food, I would actually say that disgusting is an understatement. The vegetables were rock hard to the point where you couldn't even get your fork into them. Service at the bar was atrocious, hated everything about it. Work Christmas parties are pretentious at the best of times, but this place made it 100 times worse. My advice to other companies, is spend your money elsewhere at a more deserving venue. Never again!
  • Beautiful surroundings. Calm and serene atmosphere.
  • We enjoyed working at this venue. We are a mobile bar company and we supply bartenders for events here
  • Incredibly well designed and cute vegetable garden! Absolute must see if you visit the park!
